Harry W. Bass Jr. is regarded not only as a famous collector but a man who put together one of the greatest U.S. Gold Collections of all time. In his collection was the Ultra Rare 1870-S $3 Gold Piece and 1875 $3 Gold Piece and many of the early super rare Gold Half Eagles. Bass was another who would buy multiples of each coin if he could.

His collection was sold off in 1999 and 2000 and the remaining coins are on display at the American Numismatic Association Museum in Colorado Springs, Co. Bass also owned the famous 1804 Proof Eagle, regarded as the King of Eagles. It is on display in Colorado.
