Virgil M. Brand, who some would argue, had the most extensive coin collections or hoards ever assembled. Brand owned six of the ten 1884 Trade Dollars, five 1792 Silver Center Cents and over 30 Stellas.
When Brand passed away in 1926, his collection had over 350,000 coins in it.
